We’ve been calling it Decorating on a Budget and Thrifty Decorating Ideas, now it’s Decorating Green.
Ok, we’ll go with that. www.inoutdecor.com is all about living, entertaining and decorating green.
Instead of buying those great designer paper plates to throw away after the party, buy great plates in matching sets or miss match dinner plates from your local thrift store. At ninety-nine cents to less than three dollars a plate you can use fine china with a beautiful design for everyday and even for an out door party. So what if one gets broken at that price.
Go really green and save the broken dish for your next mosaic project……
Layer Your Table
For entertaining or your own family mundane meatloaf meal.
· Use table linens, vintage and new mixed. The tablecloth you bought at the yard sale is too small for your table? Skew it at a diagonal then used fabric napkins at each place setting. Mixing colors and patterns make the elegant experience more casual.
· Combine different silverware patterns, rather stainless steel, hollowware and antique silver. If you don’t have enough serving spoons or salad tongs they are readily available for a song at thrift stores, yard sales and antique malls. (They make great gifts too).
· Combine tea lights, candelabras and single candlesticks of varying heights of different materials to create motion and harmony. Tea lights can be places in colored juice glasses for a moody glow.
· Use fresh, aromatic flowers to bring the table together and create a special feeling. There are no real rules as to size and height of centerpieces or individual arrangements. Just be sure conversation isn’t around that mass of tall irises…..
· If you really want to go all out, use individual salt and pepper shakers, name cards, napkin rings, charger plates and any other little personal touches just from you.
For someone’s birthday include a wrapped gift on the celebrant’s chair and a small favor on the other chairs. It creates a special moment and lasting memory.
